Marketing ideas

Generate and prioritize marketing ideas, growth tactics, and promotional strategy for SaaS, software, AI, and service businesses. Use whenever the user asks for marketing ideas, growth ideas, how to market something, marketing strategies, tactics, ways to promote, brainstorm marketing, what else to try, or what marketing should I do. Start here when the user is stuck and needs practical inspiration; route to /content-strategy, /social-content, /ad-creative, /paid-ads, /marketing-learning-loop, /marketing-roi, /campaign-planner, or /prep-cold-outreach when they need execution or proof in a specific channel.

# Marketing Ideas

Use this skill to help a user move from "I need ways to grow" to a small, ranked set of marketing moves they can actually try.

The core job is not to list every tactic. The job is to choose the few tactics that fit the product, buyer, stage, constraints, and proof available today.

Context Loading

Before asking questions, check whether one of these files exists and read it:

  1. `.agents/product-marketing-context.md`
  2. `.claude/product-marketing-context.md`
  3. `./references/dependencies/conversint-current/references/marketing-message-governance.md`, `./references/dependencies/conversint-current/references/org/positioning.md`, and `./references/dependencies/conversint-current/references/org/value-signals.md` when the work is for Conversint itself
  4. The active-message catalog when the recommendation adapts a current campaign message

Use existing context first. Ask only for gaps that materially change recommendations.

Intake

If the user has not already provided the answer, ask briefly for:

  • Product or offer
  • Target buyer and buying trigger
  • Current stage: pre-launch, early traction, growth, scale, or reactivation
  • Main goal: leads, demos, signups, paid conversion, retention, referrals, authority, or learning
  • Budget, time, and team capacity
  • What they have already tried and what happened

If the user is asking casually, do not turn this into a long interview. Make reasonable assumptions, state them, and give a first-pass ranked list.

Workflow

  1. **Frame the situation.** Summarize stage, buyer, constraint, and growth goal in 2-4 bullets.
  2. **Pick 3-5 ideas.** Choose from the quick lists below and the deeper reference when needed.
  3. **Prioritize.** Rank by speed to signal, cost, difficulty, and fit with buyer behavior.
  4. **Make each idea executable.** For every idea, include why it fits, how to start, expected outcome, and resources needed.
  5. **Name the next skill when execution is channel-specific.** For example, route ad-copy production to `/ad-creative`, social calendar/post work to `/social-content`, paid-media structure to `/paid-ads`, campaign architecture to `/campaign-planner`, prospect-specific outreach to `/prep-cold-outreach`, tracking setup to `/analytics-tracking`, learning storage to `/marketing-learning-loop`, and financial proof to `/marketing-roi`.

Quick Idea Map

Use this as the first pass. For the full list and selection rules, read `./references/ideas-by-category.md`.

| Situation | Strong starting ideas | |---|---| | Need leads fast | High-intent search ads, LinkedIn outbound-support content, free diagnostic tool, direct warm-network ask | | Need trust | Founder POV posts, teardown content, customer-language landing page, webinar or workshop | | Need low-budget growth | Easy-keyword SEO, Reddit/community participation, comment marketing, comparison content | | Need product-led growth | Free migration, powered-by loop, checklist/template download, in-product upsell | | Selling to enterprise | Conference speaking, investor/advisor network mapping, targeted ABM content, expert-network visibility | | Local or owner-operated SMB | Google Business Profile content, before/after proof, referral ask, local partner list, simple website audit | | AI/SaaS with unclear positioning | Use-case landing pages, problem glossary, competitor alternatives, benchmark report, interactive calculator |

Output Format

Use this structure unless the user asks for something else:

```markdown ## Situation - [Stage / buyer / constraint summary]
Recommended Ideas
### 1. [Idea name] - **Why it fits:** [connection to product, buyer, stage] - **How to start:** [2-3 first steps] - **Expected outcome:** [what success looks like] - **Resources needed:** [time, budget, skill] - **First metric:** [one metric to watch]
## What I Would Do First [1-2 sentence recommendation]
## Follow-On Execution [Which skill/workflow to use next, if any] ```
Quality Rules
  • Prefer concrete buyer triggers over generic channel advice.
  • Do not recommend a tactic that needs capacity the user said they do not have.
  • Separate learning experiments from scalable growth plays.
  • Make the first step small enough to run this week.
  • Avoid empty marketing jargon. Say what to make, where to put it, who sees it, and what signal proves it worked.
  • Prefer ideas that can produce a measurable learning. If an idea cannot connect to a metric, ledger entry, or ROI path, label it as brand/authority work rather than performance work.
